Winter Weather in the US Continues to Disrupt Aviation: Expect Flight Delays and Cancellations

After a week of severe stormy weather that affected tens of thousands of flights, the United States is preparing for another winter system expected to bring flight cancellations and delays.

Delta has issued a special update to passengers, stating there is a significant risk of delays and cancellations at many airports, including major ones like Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte (CLT), Jacksonville (OAJ), and Richmond (RIC).

The current winter system is expected to hit areas in the US today, January 30, and tomorrow, January 31, 2026. Delta will allow its passengers to postpone their flights with no additional fees until February 4.
