A snowstorm in the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) area paralyzed the area last night, preventing takeoffs and landings. Although the airport announced that the area was not suitable for flights in the morning, quite a few takeoffs departed for the German capital and were delayed, retraced, diverted, and did not receive permission for landing.

Last night, February 5, 2026, airport management announced that it would remain closed until the morning. This morning, there was still no clear announcement regarding when regular activity would resume.

"Due to black ice on 5 February 2026, no more take-offs or landings are possible. Please check your flight status for 6 February 2026," says the announcement.

As of this writing, flights departing from Gothenburg (Eurowings), Hurghada (Air Cairo), Zurich (easyJet Europe), Doha (Qatar Airways), Milan (easyJet Europe), Bologna (Ryanair), and Thessaloniki (Ryanair) were cancelled.
