The Spanish airline's membership club, Iberia Club, has announced the launch of Cuenta Familiar, a new family account that allows club members to pool their Avios points with family members of their choice and enjoy the club's benefits in a simpler, more shared way.

With the family account, up to seven people can be united in one account, managed by an administrator and up to six additional members, and accumulate points in a joint balance, regardless of each member's Iberia Club membership level. The move is intended for families, couples, or friends who want to accumulate points together and reach redemption goals faster.

The points accumulated in the joint account can be used to book flights or upgrade classes, or they can be redeemed at hotels, car rentals, and other options available through Iberia Club.

Any adult Iberia Club member can create a family account and become an administrator, easily inviting or removing friends or closing the account. The account becomes effective from the moment at least one of the invitees confirms joining.

To open an account, log in to your personal area on the Iberia Club website, select Mi Iberia Club, go to the Cuenta Familiar tab, and click on Create a family account. You can invite up to six friends who have an active Iberia Club or Iberia Kids account, with no age or family-relationship restrictions.

Under the club's terms, each member must remain on the family account for at least 12 months. Participants can track their individual activity and view their personal and joint balances.

When points are redeemed, they are deducted proportionally from all members' balances. The validity of the points in the family account will be maintained indefinitely if at least one member holds Plata status or higher. Otherwise, the normal Iberia Club validity conditions will apply.
