Cyprus has established itself as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in Europe. According to ACI EUROPE's annual traffic report for 2025, the island's airports recorded an impressive 10.7% increase in passenger numbers, more than double the European average of just 4.4%.
The data, published in ACI EUROPE's Airport Traffic Report, places Cyprus at the top of the continent's growing markets, against a backdrop of ongoing challenges in the global aviation industry, including geopolitical instability, supply chain disruptions, cost pressures, and demand volatility.
Hermes Airports, which operates Larnaca and Paphos airports, notes that the results reflect the effectiveness and robustness of the long-term strategy that Cyprus is leading in the field of aviation and tourism. Special emphasis is placed on maintaining continuous air connectivity year-round, not only during peak seasons, a move that strengthens the tourism industry and supports the stable, sustainable growth of the local economy.
According to Hermes Airports, expanding the route network, maintaining airline activity outside the summer season, and investing in connections with key markets in Europe and beyond are among the key factors that have allowed Cyprus to stand out above the continental average.
The strong performance of Cyprus' airports strengthens the island's status as a major tourist and regional destination in the Eastern Mediterranean, and positions it in a good starting position for the coming years, at a time when the European aviation industry continues to face uncertainty.
