American airlines JetBlue and United Airlines have announced a significant expansion of their "Blue Sky" partnership. Starting this week and for the first time, passengers can purchase tickets for flights operated by either company directly on the JetBlue and United websites and apps.

Customers can book flights using cash, TrueBlue points, or MileagePlus miles, depending on the booking channel they select. When searching for flights on either airline's website or app, additional options from both airlines will be displayed, expanding the range of destinations and prices available to the customer. A combined-ticket option is expected to be added later, allowing flights on both airlines on the same route.

The move follows the launch of a mutual point-accumulation and redemption option by the two loyalty clubs, TrueBlue and MileagePlus, in 2025. With the launch of paid bookings, companies are expanding their collaboration and enabling greater flexibility in planning and paying for flights.

Later this year, reciprocal passenger benefits are expected to be added, including priority boarding, preferred seating, and improved legroom, as well as same-day flight change and standby options. Additionally, United’s MileagePlus Travel platform is expected to transition to Paisly in 2026, enabling hotel bookings, vacation packages, rental cars, cruises and travel insurance
