AirAsia X announced at a press conference in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, the launch of a new international route connecting Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain, and London Gatwick, establishing Bahrain as the airline's first strategic hub outside Asia.
The new route, which will begin operating on June 26, 2026, will make Bahrain a central hub between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The move is based on Bahrain's geographical location and aviation infrastructure, with the aim of developing a hub-based operating model focused on passenger connectivity and regional collaboration. The company notes that, in addition to passenger activity, the move is expected to strengthen related areas, including cargo and maintenance services.

“The investment will reinforce Bahrain’s position as a key gateway linking Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, while delivering tangible economic benefits.”
The flights will be operated using Airbus A330 aircraft. To celebrate the launch, passengers benefit from special prices for a limited time for reservations made by February 22, 2026, for flights between June 26 and November 30, 2026.
