In the past two days, reports on social media and in some international outlets have indicated that several British Airways crew members became ill during their stay in Los Angeles after operating a flight from London to their destination.

According to reports, the crew consumed a food product, gummy candies, that allegedly contained THC, the psychoactive substance in cannabis, without being aware of it. After consuming it, they began to feel unwell and required medical assistance.

In a response to PassportNews, the company said that “a small number of staff members reported feeling unwell after arriving at a hotel in Los Angeles.” The company emphasizes that the staff members were removed from duty in accordance with procedures, received medical support, and have since recovered.

British Airways added that a replacement crew was deployed to operate the return flight from Los Angeles to London, which departed on time and without delay, with no impact on passengers.

The company also emphasized that there is no indication of wrongdoing on the part of the staff.
