Surprising decision: While the United States and other countries have not yet lifted the travel warning to Mexico due to the riots in the country, Canada decided to resume air traffic between the countries.

Air Canada announced early this morning (February 24, 2026) that "Following consultation with the Government of Canada and Mexican authorities, we will resume full operations from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday, February 24. Operations from Toronto to Guadalajara will resume on Feb. 25."

The company will increase the number of aircraft on the route to allow enough space for those stranded during the days of flight suspension. The carrier announced it would deploy large Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from Toronto and Montreal to Puerto Vallarta, which will provide an additional 258 seats.

They also recommended arriving at the airport only after receiving confirmation of the ticket for the new flights that will take off, and reminded that, following recent events, the company operates a flexible change policy for flight tickets.
