ITA Airways announced that, following an expected 24-hour nationwide strike in the Italian aviation industry, approximately 55% of all flights will be canceled on February 26, 2026. In addition, disruptions and cancellations are also expected for some flights on February 27, 2026.
The company urges passengers holding a flight ticket to check the flight status before arriving at the airport, via the company's website under the Info Voli tab or through the travel agency from which the ticket was purchased.
It was also possible to change the flight date or request a refund in the event of a flight cancellation, a flight being brought forward by more than an hour, or a delay of five hours or more. The request can be submitted until March 8, 2026, through the company's service center or through travel agencies.

"Unfortunately, we have had to cancel some flights to and from Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Rome Fiumicino, and Naples airports," the announcement explained.
"We want to reassure our customers that we are doing everything possible to minimise the impact on our operations," easyJet added.
Passengers whose flights have been affected by the cancellations will be directly contacted by the airline with rebooking or refund offers.
"If you’re travelling to or from Italy but haven’t been contacted by us, please continue to travel as expected. We recommend that you check the status of your flight on Flight Tracker before travelling to the airport."
The timing of the strike is less than ideal, given that guests at Milan Fashion Week, which runs until March 2, are gradually departing, while inbound exhibitors for the Bologna Book Fair (13-16 April) are arriving.
