Low-cost airline Wizz Air announced the expansion of its operations at several major bases in Europe to provide a solution for passengers affected by airspace restrictions in the Middle East and the suspension of direct flights to and from Israel.

The company said that while the restrictions are limiting immediate operations, it is working in collaboration with relevant aviation authorities and airports to ensure safe routes and appropriate operating windows.

As part of the move, the company's operations in Sharm el-Sheikh will be significantly increased starting March 6, 2026. The Egyptian destination is expected to serve as a connecting point for passengers who need to arrive in or depart from Israel.

The addition includes increased frequencies from the following bases:

- Budapest, from 3 to 10 weekly flights

- Rome Fiumicino - from 11 to 18 weekly flights

- London Luton - from 4 to 8 weekly flights

- Milan Malpensa - from 6 to 11 weekly flights

- Bucharest Otopeni - from 0 to 5 weekly flights

- Sofia - with 3 weekly flights

Wizz Air noted that the move will allow for the creation of additional connection options between Israel and Europe, at a time when direct services are suspended.
