Finnish airline Finnair has announced it will continue to renew its narrow-body aircraft fleet with an additional order of 18 E195-E2 aircraft from aircraft manufacturer Embraer, along with options for 16 additional aircraft and purchase rights for 12 more.

At the same time, the company inked important agreements with Pratt & Whitney, part of the RTX Corporation group, to purchase spare engines and maintenance services for the PW1900G engines installed in the new aircraft.

In addition, Finnair plans to purchase up to 12 used Airbus A320 and A321 CEO models as part of replacing older aircraft in the existing fleet.

The new E195-E2 aircraft, with a capacity of 134 seats, are expected to enter service starting in the third quarter of 2027. Three of them will be delivered in 2027, six more in 2028, and six more in 2029. The aircraft will be operated by the subsidiary Norra, which operates regional flights for Finnair.

The new model was chosen, among other things, for its operational efficiency, with over 30% savings in fuel consumption compared to the previous generation, as well as for reducing external noise and improving the passenger experience, which includes a quieter cabin, USB connections at every seat, and high-speed Internet.

Finnair's current fleet includes 79 aircraft manufactured by Airbus, Embraer, and ATR.
