The cruise industry in Greece continues its growth trend: in 2025, the volume of cruise activity in the country increased for the fourth consecutive year. Data from the Ports Association indicate an increase in both the number of sailings and the number of passengers, compared to 2024.
According to data from the Hellenic Ports Association ELIME, domestic ports recorded 6,129 cruise ship arrivals last year, compared to 5,490 arrivals in 2024, an increase of 11.7%. At the same time, the total number of passengers reached 8,415,713, up from 7,927,709 the previous year, an increase of 6.2%.
The data reflects Greece's position as a major destination in the Eastern Mediterranean cruise market, with continued demand from international companies and passengers. Among the prominent destinations, the ports of Piraeus, Santorini, Mykonos, Corfu, Heraklion, and Rhodes continue to lead, alongside other ports across the country that are enjoying increased activity.
The expansion of the industry contributes to the local and regional economy, among other things, by creating jobs and increasing tourism volumes. Alongside this, the importance of continuing to develop infrastructure and improve services at ports, in cooperation with tourism authorities and authorities, is emphasized.
Alongside the positive figures, the industry also notes a shift in trend in the new year, with some activity moving towards the western Mediterranean for various reasons, including the geopolitical situation. Despite this, industry sources emphasize the potential for continued growth and the need to strengthen the competitiveness of Greek ports in the international arena.
