It's official: Norwegian Cruise Line has officially christened its newest ship, Norwegian Luna, during a ceremony held in Miami.

The event, which took place at the cruise line’s terminal in PortMiami, brought together more than 2,000 guests. In line with maritime tradition, the ship was formally blessed before entering service, with the ceremony ending in the symbolic breaking of a bottle against the hull.

The ship’s godmother, street artist ELLE, played a central role in the event. She also created the vessel’s hull artwork titled La Luna, a design inspired by the moon and its connection to movement and change. Speaking at the ceremony, she said the project was one of the most meaningful experiences of her career.

Marc Kazlauskas, President of Norwegian Cruise Line: "Today’s christening of Norwegian Luna marks an important milestone for our Company and a moment of great pride for our entire team,” said John W. Chidsey, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “As she prepares for this special voyage, I look forward to the remarkable experiences she will deliver and to the exciting future ahead for our brand and our guests."
