AnimaWings and Athens International Airport (AIA) announced yesterday (April 1, 2026) the launch of two new direct routes between Romania and Greece, connecting the cities of Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara with Athens.
The new routes are expected to begin operating this month, April 2026, and with a frequency of two weekly flights to each destination, on Sundays and Thursdays, all year long.
The move represents an expansion of the company's operations in Southeastern Europe, strengthening the connection between regional economic centers in Romania and the Greek capital. The lines offer convenient schedules to both tourists and business people via the company's new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which recently entered the fleet. The aircraft feature 148 seats in economy and premium classes and are adapted for short and medium-haul flights, offering upgraded flight experiences through spacious cabins and a quiet environment.
AnimaWings notes that Greece is a key market for the company, as part of its expansion of summer operations. In addition to Athens, seasonal flights are planned to other popular destinations in the country, including Thessaloniki, Crete, Rhodes, and Zakynthos.
