TAP Air Portugal has introduced a brand-new travel option for passengers seeking extra comfort without upgrading to business class: “Economy Prime”, available on long-haul flights starting June 2026.
The new fare offers additional space and more perks while still flying in economy by seating passengers in the first three rows of the economy cabin, an area redesigned to offer a quieter and more private experience.
One of the standout features is the guaranteed empty seat next to each passenger that gives travelers additional personal space, something that has become increasingly attractive on long-haul journeys.
The airline is also adding several premium-style benefits typically associated with higher classes, including fast track access through airport security, priority boarding, and premium check-in services for lower waiting times and streamlined airport experiences.
Economy Prime passengers can also check in two bags free of charge, each weighing up to 23 kilograms. This is a notable increase compared to standard economy fares and is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
Moreover, travelers will receive a premium meal service with a choice of two hot dishes, followed by a snack before landing. In addition, each passenger will be given a travel kit developed in partnership with Portuguese skincare brand Benamôr, featuring eco-friendly materials and designs inspired by Portuguese culture.
Entertainment and connectivity remain a key part of the offer. Flights operated by aircraft such as the Airbus A330-900neo and A321LR will include 13-inch full HD screens, along with onboard Wi-Fi that allows passengers to send messages, browse, and stay connected during the flight.
While Economy Prime includes many extras, some services like lounge access and ticket flexibility may still come at an additional cost, depending on the fare type selected.
