Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) is celebrating 40 years of international operations, with an extensive route network and destinations around the world. The company, headquartered in Tokyo and operating in Israel, continues to expand its global footprint.
Currently, the airline operates 55 direct international routes from Japan to 40 cities worldwide. Among the recently added destinations are Milan, Stockholm, and Istanbul. Over the years, ANA has carried more than 170 million passengers on its international flights.
The milestone was celebrated at Tokyo's Narita Airport, where the company commemorated the anniversary of the first scheduled international flight from Narita to Guam. The events also saw the launch of dedicated branding and products, along with a special website to mark the celebrations.
The company's President and CEO, Shinichi Inoue, said: "By fiscal year 2030, we aim to expand our International passenger and cargo business by 1.3 times, evolving as a premier ‘combination carrier’ to deliver world-class service for the next 40 years and beyond."
Founded in 1952, the company has grown over the years to become the largest in Japan. Its fleet includes approximately 273 aircraft, and it operates the world's largest fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with over 80 of the aircraft.
ANA has held a 5-star Skytrax rating since 2013, the only Japanese airline to do so consecutively. It has also been named Airline of the Year several times, including in 2025.
