MSC Cruises continues to expand its vacation experience, announcing Sandy Cay, a new, luxurious private island in the Bahamas, opening in 2028. The island will be located adjacent to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and will be reserved for MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests.

The company notes that the new island is designed to offer a more intimate and quiet vacation experience, with an emphasis on a deep connection to the natural rhythm of the ocean and the unique spirit of the Bahamas. Sandy Cay is designed as a secluded and luxurious destination, combining tranquility, nature, and high-level comfort.

The island was carefully designed to preserve the values that guide Ocean Cay: connection to nature, sustainability, and preservation of the marine environment.

Sandy Cay's location, in the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas and next to the company's existing private island, is expected to complement MSC's vacation experience and add another dimension of relaxation, discovery, and escape from the routine.

MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests will be the first to enjoy the new island when it opens in 2028.

Ocean Cay Upgrades

MSC Cruises also announced a series of upgrades to the private island Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, which will include new facilities and experiences aimed at enriching the guest experience.

Among the planned upgrades: expanding the culinary complexes, developing new beach concepts for families and adults, increasing the relaxation areas, and creating interactive experiences that will connect guests to the world of marine conservation.

According to the company, the moves are part of a broader vision to create private island destinations that continually evolve to meet guest expectations while preserving the natural environment and unique beauty of the Bahamas.

With the addition of Sandy Cay, MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys continue to expand their private destination offerings, strengthening the connection between the experience of staying on the ship and that of the destination itself.

The two islands, Ocean Cay and Sandy Cay, represent the next phase in the group's strategy, which combines luxury vacations, a connection to nature, and personalized experiences.
