After More Than a Decade: El Al Returns to South America with a New Direct Route to Argentina

The company will operate two weekly flights on Dreamliner aircraft; flight time is expected to reach 16.5 hours. Ticket sales will open this May

For the first time in the company's history, El Al announces a new direct route between Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires.

The launch marks a significant strategic move, with the airline returning to South America after more than a decade, establishing a new destination on the continent for the first time since 2011, while also establishing a direct connection to the most distant destination in its route network.

The service is expected to begin operating as early as November, with two weekly flights to be operated on the company's advanced Dreamliner aircraft, which include three service classes, economy, premium and business. The flight duration is expected to be approximately 16.5 hours one way and 15.5 hours return.

Ticket sales for the new line are expected to open during May.

El Al will offer, through its codeshare partner Aerolíneas Argentinas and through additional partnerships, connecting flights to various destinations in Argentina and throughout South America from Buenos Aires, alongside options to reach additional destinations on the continent through stopovers in Europe.

The expansion of the route network is made possible by the strengthening of the group's aircraft fleet as part of the company's resupply plan and constitutes a central pillar of El Al's long-term strategy to expand operations and deepen its global presence.

El Al CEO Levi Halevi said: "The opening of the direct line between Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires is a move of strategic, political and national importance, born out of close cooperation with the State of Israel and out of a commitment to strengthening the relationship between the countries. The new line expresses the deep connection between Israel and Argentina, and for El Al, this is a historic and exciting line, the longest we will operate, which expands our international network and strengthens Israel's connection to the world, even in a complex reality."
