Guernsey Airport has announced that the maiden flight connecting it to the United Kingdom's "largest travel hub" and also Europe's busiest airport, London Heathrow, has taken off. On a post on social media platform X, the airport called the inaugural flight "a landmark moment for Guernsey’s connectivity".
"Today we welcomed British Airways' inaugural flight between London Heathrow and Guernsey, launching a new daily, year-round service and our only direct link to the UK’s largest travel hub," read the post.
The daily Heathrow service will be operated via Airbus A319 aircraft. British Airways' last flight to the channel island took place in 1980.
