Dubai-based airline giant Emirates has announced that it has finished installing Starlink's advanced satellite internet system on an A380 aircraft. The first aircraft, which underwent installation and certification in the UK, recently returned to Dubai and is expected to enter service with upgraded passenger communications capabilities.
This is a significant upgrade over previous internet systems, which provided limited bandwidth. According to the company, the new system includes three antennas on each aircraft and provides much faster connectivity, to a level that allows for uses such as streaming, remote work, and continuous browsing during the flight. The service will be offered free of charge to all passengers, in all classes of service.

The move is part of a broader plan to upgrade the passenger experience, which also includes renewing the aircraft fleet. So far, dozens of aircraft have been upgraded with new classes, cabin upgrades, and advanced entertainment systems.
In 2026, Emirates is expected to expand the system's installation to additional A380 aircraft, with some Boeing 777 aircraft already equipped with this technology.
