"Happy Return to Canada" After 11 Years: Finnair Brings Back Helsinki-Toronto Route Three Times a Week

Finnair has made a surprising return to Canada following an 11-year hiatus, reintroducing direct flights from Helsinki to Toronto three times a week between May 4 and August 29, 2026

Helsinki Airport celebrated the much-anticipated return of direct flights connecting Canada to Finland on May 4, 2026.

"Congratulations, Finnair, on the relaunch of the Toronto route!" said the airport in a Facebook announcement following the event that gathered airline representatives from Finnair and Finavia, along with the Embassy of Canada to Finland.

The service will be available three times a week during the summer of 2026, between May 4 and August 29. The selected flight days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.

"The renewed connection strengthens Helsinki Airport’s position as a major hub linking Europe and North America. In addition to Toronto, Finnair’s North American network for summer 2026 also includes New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle," said the announcement.
