China Eastern Airlines is set to launch new nonstop flights between Adelaide and Shanghai, creating easier access for South Australian travelers heading to Asia and Europe.

The new seasonal service will begin on June 21 and operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The route is expected to strengthen both tourism and business links while giving passengers smoother one-stop connections from Shanghai to major European destinations, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, and Frankfurt.

Passengers traveling on the new route will be able to choose between Premium Business, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins, with complimentary onboard Wi Fi also included.

The airline says the new flights will help bring Europe “one flight closer” for travelers departing from Adelaide while further expanding international connectivity between Australia and China.

Tickets for the new service are already on sale through the airline's website.

Also today, the airline has announced that it will also increase the frequency of its Barcelona-Shanghai route to 10 flights a week.

At the end of April, China Eastern also announced a new direct Shanghai–Tbilisi service route starting July 15, 2026, marking its first route to Georgia and strengthening Eurasian connectivity. The announcement followed the luanch of a new Vienna–Xi’an route on April 20.
