Cruise giant MSC Cruises has reached a significant milestone with the departure of the MSC Poesia from Seattle on its maiden voyage to Alaska, the first time the company has operated in this region.

During the summer season, which will last until September, the ship will operate 7-night cruises that include stops at key destinations in Alaska and Canada, including Juneau, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Victoria, along with sailing through the fjords of Endicott Arm and in front of Dawes Glacier.

In preparation for the new season, MSC Poesia has undergone a comprehensive upgrade that includes the launch of the luxury MSC Yacht Club complex, the company's "ship within a ship" concept, alongside new spa and fitness complexes, specialty restaurants, and a dedicated Alaska-inspired culinary program, with an emphasis on regional cuisine, fish and seafood dishes, cocktails, and drinks tailored to the destination.

Among the innovations on the ship are the American steakhouse Butcher's Cut and the Kaito Sushi Bar, along with new entertainment shows, including "Dirty Dancing: In Concert," a live show accompanied by a band, singers, and dancers.

In addition, guests will enjoy expert lectures, interactive workshops, and dedicated content dealing with Alaska's nature, culture, and marine life.

The company stated that as part of its commitment to responsible operations in the region, MSC Cruises is collaborating with the ORCA organization for marine research, and during whale season, a marine expert will sail aboard the ship to provide training to the crew and experiential content to guests.

MSC Cruises has announced that MSC Poesia will return to Alaska in the summer 2027 season, with sailings already open for bookings.
