Qatar Airways announced today (Tuesday, May 12, 2026) the expansion of its international operations with the renewal of routes to Helsinki, Finland, and Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, starting July 15, 2026.
The company will initially operate four weekly flights to Helsinki, and will later increase the operation to seven weekly flights starting August 1. According to the company, the route is expected to improve connectivity between Europe and destinations in Australia, Kenya and Southeast Asia through the company's hub in Doha.
At the same time, Qatar Airways will resume flights to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, in addition to its existing operations to Narita. This route will also initially operate four flights per week, before switching to daily flights from August.
According to the company, the expansion of operations is part of a plan to increase its global destination network to more than 160 destinations during the upcoming summer season.
As part of the move, this month, aviation giant Qatar Airways announced that it will launch flights to Bogota and Caracas in the summer of 2026, becoming the first Gulf airline to operate a route to Venezuela. The move will expand the company's operations in the Americas to 16 destinations.
Qatar Airways currently operates flights to more than 150 destinations worldwide through its home port, Hamad International Airport in Doha.
