The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced that the technical outage that occurred yesterday, May 18, 2026, affecting traveler processing systems, including airport Primary Inspection Kiosks (PIKs) nationwide, has been resolved.
However, the agency warned that travelers could still "experience delays in the short term" as they resume standard processing operations. Commercial systems are also back online, says the CBSA.
"Thank you again for your patience and collaboration and our apologies for the inconvenience."
PIKs are digital border processing systems used to check passengers' identity and process customs declarations. CBSA systems simplify the flow of legitimate travelers and trade via more than 100 acts and regulations, as well as technological infrastructure and framework that processes travelers, screens them for admissibility, and manages commercial cargo and trade that enter or exit Canada
