Engine Fire Warning: Air India Investigates Incident During Final Approach Into Delhi

Air India confirmed a fire engine indication during a Bengaluru–Delhi flight approach on May 21, 2026. The indication prompted emergency procedures

Air India confirmed an incident involving a flight operating from Bengaluru to Delhi. The incident, involving Flight AI2802, took place on May 21, 2026, "during the aircraft’s final approach into Delhi," said the airlines. 

The crew reportedly received a fire warning from one of the engines, and the indication "was subsequently confirmed as true."

This prompted the cockpit crew to follow the standard procedures, "safely" landing the aircraft at Delhi airport and disembarking all passengers and crew, said Air India.

The company has announced it will promptly launch a full investigation to determine the cause of the incident, in collaboration with regulatory authorities.

"We are committed to sharing further verified information as soon as it becomes available. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority," the airline added.
