Prague Airport has warned passengers to allow additional travel time when heading to the airport as "ongoing reconstruction work at the Aviatická intersection" is likely to cause traffic restrictions and delays.
The biggest problems could arise during peak hours, when the airport advises the use of public transportation wherever possible, as these services will not be affected by the construction.
At the end of April, the airport also warned that roadworks on the D7 highway could cause major congestion for passengers.
Today, May 22, the airport welcomed the first flight of the resumed Prague - Philadelphia route from American Airlines.
The Czech Republic's Minister of Transport, Ivan Bednárik, shared the announcement on social media, calling it "an important step for the further development of transatlantic connections for the Czech Republic."
The Minister also called the United States "one of the key long-haul markets for Prague Airport" and explained that Philadelphia had not been selected by accident, citing the 1250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city that the U.S. will celebrate this year.
"That's why I'm all the more delighted that Czech passengers will have the opportunity to fly there directly from Prague," the Minister added.
