The Lufthansa Group is entering the summer travel season with a reassuring message to passengers, noting that, at this stage, there are no signs of disruption to jet fuel supplies and that the company expects normal operations throughout the peak season.
According to the group, fuel suppliers in its six European hubs, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels and Rome, as well as in destinations outside Europe, do not indicate a risk to supply during the summer.
The group notes that less than a quarter of jet fuel shipments destined for Europe pass through the Strait of Hormuz. To reduce dependence and compensate for possible shortages, imports from other continents, including North America and Africa, have been increased, as has jet fuel production at European refineries.
Lufthansa also emphasizes that the group's route network includes more than 300 destinations across more than 100 countries, and that its companies are preparing to operate a wide range of flights during the summer season.
Lufthansa further added that, in the event of an unexpected fuel shortage that leads to flight cancellations, customers will be able to choose between rebooking or a full refund of the ticket price. This policy will apply to all group companies.
