A reported "police incident" at Manchester Airport is causing disruption after authorities were forced to close both the upper and lower level forecourts at Terminal 2.

Airport operator Manchester Airports Group said the closure remains in place until further notice, affecting both passenger drop-off and pick-up access at the terminal.

Travelers heading to Terminal 2 by road have been advised to use alternative arrangements while traffic marshals manage the situation on site.

For drop-offs, passengers are being redirected to the free drop-off area at JetParks 1 car park. For pick-ups, drivers have been instructed to access the T2 West Multi-Story car park via Sydney Avenue.

The airport emphasized that Manchester Airport Terminal 3 remains unaffected by the incident.

Authorities have not yet released details about the nature of the police incident, but passengers are being urged to allow extra time for travel to and from the airport, as congestion is expected on the access roads around Terminal 2.

The disruption comes amid a difficult day for transport networks across England, with multiple rail incidents also affecting airport connections and commuter routes in and around London.
