52-Meter Tidal Tower, Cliff Jumps, Lazy River, and Family Zones: NCL Unveils Massive 19-Slide Island Waterpark in the Bahamas

Norwegian Cruise Line will open Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay on September 4, 2026, featuring 19 slides, cabanas and family attractions

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that its highly anticipated Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas will officially open on September 4, 2026, marking a major expansion of its private island experience.

The opening will take place during a seven-night Caribbean sailing aboard the Norwegian Luna, with guests already able to pre-book day passes and private cabanas ahead of arrival. The company says the new attraction is designed to enhance its growing private island offering with more family-friendly and adventure-focused experiences.

Spanning nearly 2.5 hectares, the new waterpark will feature 19 slides, a 52-metre Tidal Tower, cliff jumps, lazy river experiences, and dedicated children’s zones. It will also include new dining options through three food trucks positioned across the island.

Marc Kazlauskas, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, said: “Great Stirrup Cay continues to grow into one of the most popular private island destinations in the Bahamas, and we are thrilled to officially open Great Tides Waterpark on September 4, 2026. Guests can now pre-book their day passes and secure an unforgettable day on one of the Caribbean's most spectacular private islands, with experiences for families and travelers of all ages: from action-packed waterslides to relaxing lagoon moments.”

The waterpark is part of a wider redevelopment of Great Stirrup Cay, which already includes lagoon-style pools, swim-up bars, and upgraded leisure areas for both families and adults. The island will also offer private cabanas near key attractions, including the signature Tidal Tower slides.

Great Stirrup Cay is accessible year-round on cruises departing from major US ports including Miami, New York, and several Florida homeports. The Norwegian Luna will operate itineraries visiting destinations such as Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and Tortola while featuring the new island experience as a central highlight.

Norwegian Cruise Line says bookings for the attraction are now open via its cruise management platform once passengers have confirmed their sailing.
