Milan Airport has issued a warning regarding the 24-hour national general strike affecting the air transport sector today, May 29, 2026.
The airport has informed passengers that scheduled flights "may be subject to delays or cancellations" and recommended that they get in touch with their airlines to check the operational status of flights before traveling to the airport.
As reported earlier this week, the strike will join a major nationwide rail strike in Italy, with train travel also expected to be affected across the country. This includes connections to Rome Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" International Airport, one of the busiest airports in Europe.
As announced by Aeroporti di Roma and Italian rail operators, the strike, that has started at 9:00 PM local time on Thursday, May 28, will carry on until 9:00 PM on Friday, May 29.
The action involves employees from the FS Group, Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper and Trenord, with passengers warned that trains across the national network may face delays, cancellations or schedule changes.
