Miami International Airport has permanently closed a key roadway as part of ongoing expansion works linked to the development of its new Concourse K.

From 10:00 a.m. local time, NW 20th Street between MacLaughlin Drive and the airport has been shut to all traffic, meaning the route can no longer be used to enter or exit airport grounds.

Airport authorities said the closure is necessary to support construction activity and ensure the safe and efficient progress of the new concourse project, which forms part of the airport’s long-term expansion plans.

The change is expected to impact regular traffic patterns around the airport, particularly for passengers and staff who previously used NW 20th Street as a direct access route.

Travelers are urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes when traveling to Miami International Airport, including those serving the MIA South Bus Station and other airport facilities.

Officials also advised drivers to follow posted detour signage in the area and allow extra time for journeys, particularly during peak travel periods when congestion may increase due to the closure.

The airport emphasized that the work is part of its broader “MIA Future Ready” infrastructure program aimed at modernizing terminals and improving passenger capacity in the coming years.

While the closure is permanent, additional updates are expected as construction on Concourse K progresses and as further phases of the development roll out.

Passengers traveling through Miami International Airport are encouraged to stay updated through official airport communications to avoid delays and navigate the revised traffic layout smoothly.
