Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) continues to consolidate its position in Europe. According to the annual report for 2025 published today (8.6.26), the airport handled approximately 26.1 million passengers, an increase of 2.3% compared to the previous year.
The number of takeoffs and landings increased to 193,000, while air cargo activity jumped by 17.4% to almost 52,000 tons.
The airport management notes that 2025 was the fourth consecutive year of positive operating profit, while the annual loss narrowed to €86.1 million. One of the key achievements was the completion of the refinancing process of the airport's construction debts, a move that paved the way for full financial independence starting in 2026, without the need for shareholder guarantees.

As a result, the average wait time at security screening has decreased to just five minutes. In addition, border checks have been expanded, new digital services have been added, and the range of restaurants and shops in the terminal has been expanded.
In 2025, BER was named the "World's Most Improved Airport" and also received a four-star Skytrax rating. In the area of sustainability, the airport achieved another achievement when it became the first airport in Germany to reach Level 4 in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, having reduced its carbon emissions by 51% compared to the base year.
Despite the challenges in the German aviation industry, BER management estimates that continued expansion of the destination network, improved services, and investments in infrastructure will further strengthen BER's position as Berlin's main air gateway in the coming years.
