Passengers traveling through Newark Liberty International Airport should prepare for transportation changes as the airport continues work on its massive redevelopment program.

Airport officials announced today, June 9, 2026, that beginning at 3 a.m. on June 10, 2026, all Uber and Lyft pickups serving Terminal C will move to Terminal C Garage Level 3. The change is part of ongoing improvements taking place under the airport's broader transformation project.

Travelers using rideshare services are encouraged to follow airport signage and app instructions to reach the new pickup area after arriving at Terminal C.

JFK Airport issued a similar warning today, June 8, 2026, urging passengers to pre-book parking at least three hours in advance and be advised that pickups have moved due to airport construction.

Air Train Newark Construction Causing Possible Delays

At the same time, Newark is reminding rail passengers that construction of the new AirTrain Newark system continues to affect ground transportation around the airport.

To protect construction workers and maintain safety during the project, buses are replacing AirTrain service between the Airport Train Station and airport terminals on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Travelers arriving via Amtrak or NJ Transit should allow additional time for their journeys and expect longer transfer times between rail services and terminals.

The AirTrain replacement schedule is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's efforts to deliver a completely new AirTrain system as part of the wider "A New EWR" redevelopment initiative.

Airport officials are advising passengers to check the latest service information before traveling and budget extra time, especially during peak travel periods.

The transportation changes come as Newark Liberty continues a multi-billion-dollar modernization program aimed at improving passenger experience, upgrading infrastructure, and increasing capacity at one of the New York metropolitan area's busiest airports.
