Italy's aviation network is preparing for a difficult day on June 13, 2026, with four separate strikes expected to impact airlines, airports and air traffic services.
The largest action involves easyJet pilots and cabin crew, who are scheduled to strike nationwide from 06:00 until midnight. The walkout is expected to affect both domestic and international routes operated by the airline.
Additional disruption is expected at Verona Airport, where ENAV air traffic control staff will strike for 24 hours, and at Cagliari Elmas Airport, where operations and security personnel are also planning an all-day stoppage. At Milan Linate Airport, Sky Service ground handling staff are due to strike for four hours in the afternoon.
To reduce the impact on travelers, ENAC has imposed guaranteed operating windows between 07:00–10:00 and 18:00–21:00. Flights outside these periods face a significantly higher risk of cancellation, particularly between 10:00 and 18:00.
Passengers should verify their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport and retain receipts for any additional expenses incurred due to delays or cancellations.
While passengers affected by the easyJet crew strike may be entitled to compensation under EU261 rules, disruptions linked to air traffic control or airport service providers are generally considered extraordinary circumstances and do not trigger compensation payments. Airlines are nevertheless required to provide care, assistance, rebooking or refunds as appropriate.
