The new hotel, Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen, will be developed by Kvarnholmen Utveckling, a joint venture between Swedish real estate companies Peab and JM. The property will be leased and operated by 1912 Hotels under a franchise agreement with IHG.
Located in Kvarnholmen, a waterfront district on Stockholm's eastern shoreline, the hotel will form part of the area's ongoing transformation into a modern urban destination.

The project marks a significant milestone for IHG, bringing the Hotel Indigo brand to Sweden for the first time. Known for its neighborhood-inspired approach, Hotel Indigo properties are designed to reflect the culture, architecture, and character of their local surroundings.
The hotel will feature 232 guest rooms, along with a restaurant, bar, wellness facilities, meeting space, and several social areas. Guests will also have access to a rooftop pool and terrace, spa and gym facilities, and a landscaped indoor atrium designed to serve both visitors and the local community.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the Swedish capital is a natural fit for the brand.
"We are delighted to bring Hotel Indigo to Stockholm, a city that perfectly embodies the brand's ethos of celebrating neighborhood culture through design-led hospitality," Geels said.
Johan Gyllberg, Regional Manager at Peab Bostad and board representative for Kvarnholmen Utveckling, said the project would help create a distinctive hospitality offering in one of Stockholm's most exciting new districts.
The signing further strengthens IHG's growing presence across the Nordic region, where the company currently has 13 open and pipeline properties. Across Europe, Hotel Indigo continues to expand rapidly, with 54 hotels already open and another 22 in development.
When it opens in 2029, Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen is expected to become one of the city's newest lifestyle hospitality destinations, combining waterfront views, modern design and a strong connection to the local community.
