Low-cost carriers around the world operated more than 760,000 inbound flights during May 2026, with an average on-time arrival (OTP) rate of 78.9% and an exceptionally low cancellation rate of 0.6%, according to a new report from aviation information company OAG.
The global ranking is topped by Jeju Airlines from South Korea, with 92.2% of flights arriving on time and with no cancellations. It was followed by Norwegian Air Shuttle from Norway and Jiangxi Air from China, both with 91.4% punctuality. Of the top ten airlines, eight come from Asia, a figure that highlights the region's dominance in operational punctuality.
Among the world's 20 largest low-cost carriers, responsible for about 80% of all low-cost flights, no company exceeded the 90% mark. Wizz Air ranked first, with 87.8% of flights arriving on time, followed by Volaris from Mexico (87.2%) and Azul from Brazil (86.0%).
Ryanair recorded an on-time performance of 78.5%, slightly below the global average, while easyJet finished with 77%. Jet2 ranked 19th with just 69%, but was one of only two major carriers not to cancel a single flight during the month.
In North America, JetBlue led with 83.2%, while Southwest Airlines, which operated the largest number of flights in the report, more than 123,000, settled for 71.4%. On the other hand, AirAsia stood out with the highest cancellation rate among the major carriers, 2.03%, followed by Azul with 1.25%.
