Czech airline Smartwings continues to expand its fleet. Today (Monday, June 22, 2026), a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, bearing the registration OK-SWO, landed in the Czech Republic, becoming the 14th aircraft of this model in the company's fleet.

The plane took off from Boeing Field in Seattle and arrived in the Czech Republic after the delivery flight. It is expected to take off on its first commercial flight tomorrow, operating a route to Cagliari Airport on the island of Sardinia in Italy.

For Smartwings, the 737 MAX 8 is a key pillar of the company’s growth strategy, thanks to its increased range and lower fuel consumption. The company has also achieved several notable achievements with the model: in January 2022, it became the first airline in the world to land a 737 MAX 8 in Antarctica, and it also holds the record for the longest commercial flight performed using the model, a flight lasting 9 hours and 25 minutes between Punta Cana and Stockholm.

The addition of the new aircraft further strengthens the capabilities of the company, which is considered one of the largest airlines in Central Europe, operating flights to hundreds of destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. For Israeli passengers, this is another sign of the continued expansion of one of the most active and well-known foreign airlines in the local market.
