Leonardo Smart in Vienna. Photo: Leonardo Hotels Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has launched its new hospitality brand, Leonardo Smart, with the opening of the Leonardo Smart Vienna Airport Hotel, located near Vienna International Airport.
The new 510-room hotel is the world’s largest hotel built entirely from wood. The project was built in just 13 months by the Austrian company Mamma Group, and has been awarded ÖGNI and DGNB green building certifications for its design focus on sustainability and resource efficiency.
The launch of the hotel expands the chain's operations in Austria to nine hotels and two apartment complexes, five of which are located in the city of Vienna.
The Leonardo Smart concept focuses on a functional and digital hospitality experience, with 24-hour self-service check-in and check-out services, a lobby open for work and meetings, a 24-hour minimarket, a service kitchen, a fitness area, high-speed Wi-Fi, and rooms equipped for business and leisure travelers.
The hotel is located just minutes from the Vienna Schwechat Airport Terminal, with a shuttle service operating 24 hours a day and departing every 20 minutes between the hotel and the terminals.
The hotel is managed by Thomas Neubauer, who has extensive experience in the international hotel industry, having held management positions at Schloss Fuschl, the Adina Apartment Hotels chain, and the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna, among others.
