Roadway changes are in effect at John F. Kennedy International Airport, with airport officials urging passengers to avoid driving where possible due to expected congestion near the terminals.
The new advisory follows June's announcement about major transportation changes that are causing very limited parking availability amid construction work under the airport’s massive redevelopment project, known as “A Whole New JFK.”
Travelers are advised to use the subway or train services to reduce pressure on airport access roads. Those who must arrive by car are being asked to follow all posted signage, allow extra travel time, and prepare for potential delays.
The new permanent roadway configuration is in place for drivers from Long Island and points east heading toward to Terminals 1 and 4. Passengers traveling via Belt Parkway are advised to follow updated signage and check which terminal they will fly out of before reaching the airport.
Airport authorities have not specified how long the traffic measures will remain in place, but updates will continue to be shared through official channels.
