Emirates is marking World Chocolate Day by offering a behind-the-scenes look at one of its most popular onboard treats, revealing that passengers consume more than 64 million pieces of premium chocolate every year across its global network.

The selection ranges from triple chocolate mousse cakes in Economy Class to plated gourmet creations in First Class, all designed by the airline's culinary team.

Rather than relying on a single producer, the airline works with internationally renowned chocolatiers and premium manufacturers, sourcing cocoa from leading growing regions in South America and Africa. Emirates said suppliers are chosen not only for quality but also for their commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable production.

Mediterranean routes may feature pairings with berries or stone fruits, Asian services incorporate flavors such as yuzu and matcha, while pistachio remains a favorite accompaniment on Middle Eastern routes.
More than 250 pastry and bakery chefs create over 120 different chocolate desserts each year, allowing menus to evolve with the seasons and regional preferences.
5% More Chocolate Consumption Than Last Year
Emirates also reported that chocolate consumption onboard continues to rise, increasing by around 5% year over year. Dark chocolate varieties have become increasingly popular among travelers, while salted caramel remains one of the airline's most requested flavor combinations.
The chocolate experience begins before boarding. First and Business Class passengers visiting Emirates lounges can sample an evolving menu of premium desserts, including chocolate cakes and mousse creations made with luxury chocolate brands such as Valrhona. Other featured partners include La Rose Noir, Compartés, Gianni & Gelato, Canonica and Neuhaus.
Each cabin offers its own distinct dessert selection. Economy passengers can enjoy treats such as Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake, while Premium Economy features Chocolate and Pistachio Mousse Cake. Business Class passengers are served sophisticated chocolate entremets alongside locally crafted chocolates from UAE chocolatier Coco Jalila, while First Class guests receive plated desserts and a rotating selection of luxury chocolates that changes every four months.
The announcement comes as Emirates celebrates World Chocolate Day, highlighting how one of aviation's largest inflight catering operations continues to evolve alongside changing passenger tastes.
