While millions of tourists flock annually to Rome, Venice, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast, a small, stunning island remains relatively unknown in the Bay of Naples.

Procida is the smallest island in the Bay of Naples, yet it is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and authentic in southern Italy. In 2022, it was named Italy's Capital of Culture, thanks to its rich history, unique architecture, and ability to preserve its local character even in the age of tourism.

The highlight of the island is Corricella, Procida's oldest and most picturesque fishing district, regarded as one of Italy's most photographed sites. At first glance, it feels as if you've stepped into a postcard. Stone houses painted in shades of pink, yellow, blue, green, and orange climb the slope above the small harbor, colorful fishing boats dock in the clear waters, and among the alleys are family-run restaurants, cafes, and balconies overlooking the sea. Despite its growing popularity, Corricella has managed to retain its charm and authenticity, and not coincidentally, scenes from the famous Italian film "The Postman" were shot here.<\/p>

Food enthusiasts will also find an unforgettable experience here. If you love fish and seafood, it's worth stopping at La Lampara Restaurant, which overlooks the harbor and offers excellent local cuisine. Pizza lovers should visit Ristorante Pizzeria Fuego, serving traditional Neapolitan pizza, and after the meal, savor high-quality Italian ice cream at the Chiaro di Luna gelateria, one of the island's favorite spots.

But Procida is much more than just Corricella. Marina Grande welcomes visitors as soon as they disembark from the ferry, the streets are filled with small shops, cafes, and charming corners, and every short walk reveals another stunning view of the Bay of Naples. It's an island to wander without haste, sit by the sea with an Italian espresso, enjoy the local atmosphere, and feel how time slows down.

Reaching Procida is simple and convenient. From Naples, you can take a ferry or hydrofoil from the Molo Beverello or Calata di Massa ports. Another option is to depart from Pozzuoli port, where the journey is even shorter. After arriving at Marina Grande, you can reach Corricella with a 15-minute walk through the picturesque alleys or by local taxi.<\/p>

During the summer months, the island fills with a festive atmosphere, restaurants and cafes come alive, and the colorful harbor becomes one of the most beautiful places in southern Italy. It's recommended to arrive in the afternoon and stay until sunset when the sun's rays paint the pastel buildings and sea in golden and orange hues, creating an unforgettable sight.

If you're looking for a unique, authentic destination less crowded than Italy's famous spots, Procida is an excellent choice. It's a small island with a big soul, combining history, stunning landscapes, excellent local food, and genuine Italian ambiance. Anyone who visits once quickly understands why so many travelers fall in love with it and promise themselves to return again.
