London Luton Airport has today, July 8, 2026, announced that children aged 8 and 9 can now use the UK's automated border control eGates when arriving in the country, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.

The change, taking effect starting today, wil allow children who are at least 120 centimeters (3 feet 11 inches) tall and accompanied by an adult to pass through the eGates.

The expansion is intended to make the border process quicker and more convenient for families traveling through London Luton.

Eligible children must travel with an accompanying adult and meet the minimum height requirement to use the automated passport control gates.

The update follows changes to UK border procedures aimed at streamlining passenger processing at airports equipped with eGate technology.
