After recently unveiling plans to build a €14 million geothermal facility at Madrid-Barajas Airport to support the hub's decarbonization and renewable energy goals, Spanish airport operator Aena has announced new plans to upgrade the longest runway at Zaragoza Airport.
The project is aimed at strengthening the airport's operational and logistics capabilities.

The investment will enable the airport to continue to support the increasing demand for freight services and accommodate larger cargo aircraft more efficiently.
Zaragoza Airport has become one of Spain's most important cargo gateways, serving as a strategic logistics hub thanks to its location between Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia. The airport plays a key role in the distribution networks of major retailers and logistics companies and has experienced significant growth in air freight volumes in recent years.
