Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport has officially been renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport following legislation signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in March 2026, marking the first time a major U.S. airport has been named after a sitting president.

The President's son posted a touching message on X: "I am deeply honored that at 5:01 a.m., Trump Force One will be the first plane to land at the newly renamed Palm Beach International Airport, now and forever President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT). "
The Federal Aviation Administration has updated the airport’s identifier to DJT, though passenger-facing systems, including booking platforms and airline displays, are expected to transition fully on August 18.
President Donald Trump celebrated the announcement, calling it a “very big day” and saying the airport would receive major improvements and upgrades in the future. While supporters might praise the move as recognition of his connection to Florida, critics could argue that naming a public facility after a sitting president breaks with long-standing traditions.
The rebranding is expected to cost millions of dollars, with estimates reaching up to $5.5 million, according to the county's Department of Airports, with potential grant funding available.
Palm Beach International Airport, which serves one of Florida’s busiest regions, will now begin the process of updating signage, branding materials, and operational systems to reflect its new name.
