Travelers heading to Nigeria should prepare for additional entry requirements, as the country now requires all arriving passengers, including those in transit, to complete an online Nigeria Health Declaration Form before entering the country.
The measure applies to every traveler regardless of their final destination and forms part of the Nigerian government's efforts to strengthen public health monitoring at the country's borders.
Upon arrival, passengers may be subject to thermal screening and asked to provide details of their recent travel history. The screening procedures are designed to help authorities identify diseases of public health importance and respond quickly to potential health risks.
Travelers can complete the mandatory Nigeria Health Declaration Form through the official Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) portal. The form is free to complete and generates a PDF confirmation with a QR code that travelers should present to Port Health officials upon arrival.

In addition to the declaration form, all arriving travelers will be placed under a mandatory 21-day health monitoring period after entering Nigeria. According to the official notice issued by Nigerian health authorities, the surveillance program is a condition of entry into the country.
During the three-week monitoring period, Nigeria's public health surveillance team may contact travelers by phone, SMS, or, where necessary, through in-person visits to check on their health status. Travelers may also be asked to report symptoms including fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or other signs of illness if they develop during the monitoring period.
Authorities advise passengers to complete the online Health Declaration Form before departure to avoid delays upon arrival. Airlines may also remind travelers of the requirement during check-in or before boarding flights to Nigeria.
