In a post shared on social media, London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced that the initiative will begin this Saturday, July 25, 2026, describing it as another way to help Londoners save money while exploring the city during the busy holiday period.
Under the Weekend Hopper scheme, passengers simply need to use the same contactless card or mobile device each time they board a bus. Eligible journeys made on Saturdays and Sundays during the school holidays will automatically be covered after the first fare is charged, allowing travelers to enjoy unlimited bus rides throughout the day at no additional cost.
The offer builds on Transport for London's efforts to make public transportation more affordable and accessible, particularly for families looking for low-cost activities during the summer break.
