According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft, an Airbus A330 operating as Flight LX16, landed safely at Bangor shortly before noon local time on Monday. The flight had departed from Zurich Airport and was bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York when the crew declared an emergency.
According to flight tracking data, the aircraft resumed its journey to New York later, landing safely at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 21:16. The diversion resulted in a delay of approximately six hours compared to the flight's originally scheduled arrival time of 14:55 in New York.
