Boeing has reached a significant milestone in the development program for the 737 MAX 10, after the aircraft completed its final scheduled certification flight as part of the process to obtain certification from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
This is the largest aircraft in the 737 MAX family, designed to compete with Airbus' A321neo models. The test program included 976 flights, more than 2,060 flight hours and approximately 1,040 hours of ground testing.
During the certification process, a wide range of systems were tested, including chassis performance, wet braking, emergency braking at maximum load, engine anti-ice, and an enhanced angle of attack system.
The last flight focused on testing cabin systems, including the sounding of the smoke detector alarm in the restrooms and the public address system, to ensure that air crews can quickly identify and respond to any unusual events.
After completing the test flight phase, the program moves to the final phase of the certification process, which includes completing engineering reviews and systems safety assessments, and submitting all required documents to the FAA for regulatory review.
Boeing notes that 100% of the certification flights have already been completed, while the engineering control processes and safety assessment are in the final stages. The company continues to aim for full certification during 2026.

Thank you to everyone who gave so much of themselves to get us here. This is an important step on our journey, and we’re focused on building on it as we move forward.”
Test pilot Dan Mangel, who flew the plane on its first flight four years ago and also on the last qualification flight, also described the moment as "an emotional day."
Once approval is received, the three test aircraft will be refurbished and converted to a full delivery configuration, including cabin installation, repainting, and preparation for delivery to customers.
