The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced $1.776 billion in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants to modernize airports across the United States, funding runway rehabilitations, terminal improvements and critical safety upgrades.

The investment will support projects in 46 states, with the aim of improving airport infrastructure, enhancing the passenger experience and strengthening aviation safety.

Among the largest recipients of the grants are, as follows:

-Denver International Airport, which will receive $88.8 million for pavement rehabilitation projects

-Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field, with $74 million for runway rehabilitation, apron expansion and upgraded visual guidance lighting.

-Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport: $62.4 million for runway and runway lighting rehabilitation

-Houston Hobby Airport: $62.2 million for runway construction

-John F. Kennedy International Airport: 47.6 million for taxiway construction and the reconstruction of an aircraft rescue and firefighting facility

-Orlando International Airport: $36 million for terminal, taxiway and lighting improvements

-Oakland International Airport: $28.1 million for taxiway rehabilitation

According to the Department of Transportation, the funding will also support family-friendly airport enhancements alongside infrastructure improvements designed to accommodate future growth in air travel.

"What better way to celebrate America than investing in its future," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. "We're ushering in the Golden Age of Transportation, and rebuilding our airport infrastructure is critical to making that vision a reality."

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford: "This funding does more than just rebuild runways and taxiways. It modernizes the travel experience for American families, ensuring our airports are safe and ready for the future."

The grants are part of the FAA's ongoing airport investment program, which finances infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, terminals, lighting systems and other improvements to support the nation's aviation network.
